DIXIELAND BAND passed away last year at age 29. He was NORTHERN DANCER’S leading active son from 1999 – 2009, with progeny earnings in excess of $75MM. He has sired 115 stakes winners (9%) including three champions and six Grade 1 winners. He has twenty sons at stud in this country. He is one of NORTHERN DANCER’S most prolific five sons at stud along with DANZIG, NIJINSKY, NUREYEV, and SADLER’S WELLS. His lifetime yearling sale average is $100K, and his average earnings per starter are $75K. These AVERAGE numbers are strong --- and this guy ain’t AVERAGE!
This colt’s dam was a hard hitting racehorse. CAMARGO (Ire.) was a stakes winner, finishing first (twice) and second (twice), in five career outings. She is by BRIEF TRUCE (Ire.), the top ranked colt in Europe of his generation. She already had two winners to race. Her multiple winning half sister has thrown two stakes winners of $662K and $364K.
This racy and rugged NY Bred colt was born and raised at famed Akindale Farm owned by the late Mr. John Hettinger. They like him a great deal. This colt should be fast. He should come out running. He should appreciate both dirt and turf…and the competitive fire within should be strong.
