FILLY (2/10/09) BY READ THE FOOTNOTES – SPANISH MILL

This pretty filly was plucked out of the New York Fall Sale in Saratoga as a weanling simply due to the fact that she was an absolute stand-out in terms of her physique and attitude. She’s been at Dr. Eisaman’s in Ocala, Florida ever since and ought to have a significant edge on New York Bred competition in the spring of 2011.

Her sire, READ THE FOOTNOTES, was all racehorse as he possessed serious speed and tenacity in his brief career. Rick Violette, his astute trainer, considers him the best horse he’s ever had. READ THE FOOTNOTES won the graded Remson (1 1/8 miles), Nashua (1mile), and Fountain of Youth (1 1/16 miles). His most impressive victory, however, may have been his initial start when he manhandled a group of maidens by 10 lengths going five furlongs in 57:2. He was the #1 New York Freshman, Sophomore and Third Year sire and has sired a NY Champion and RIGHTLY SO, already a Grade 3 winner, among his stakes winners. Not surprisingly, his progeny have dangerous speed, as the male line includes MR. PROSPECTOR, TWO PUNCH, and SMOKE GLACKEN.

The dam, Spanish Mill, was sneaky good, winning two quick races as a two year old. She has produced three foals to race --- ALL winners. Her second dam, Spanish Storm, had a filly named SPANISH GLITTER, a fast multiple stakes winner of eleven races and $450K.

This filly represents good value and will not only “be early,” but also be running for larger purses (due to recently approved gaming corporation in New York) against restricted NY Bred competition. Whitehall Stable believes, “RIGHTLY SO,” we have an awfully talented filly to unveil.
